Okra

How to cook okra, three different ways.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. okra
  • 1 onion (for saute)
  • 1 T. olive oil (for saute)
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Boiled - Wash and trim okra. Add to pot of boiling water and cook for about 5-8 minutes, just until tender. Don't over cook. Strain and cut into 1-2 inch pieces, or serve whole. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Microwave - Wash and trim okra. Place okra in a microwave-safe dish (covered) and cook on high for about 5 minutes. Cut okra into 1-2 inch pieces, or serve whole. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Saute - Wash and trim okra. Saute some onion in olive oil over medium-high heat. Add okra and saute until okra becomes tender, about 5 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve whole.
