Limeaide

Home made limeaide, just like uncle Archie used to make it. Apparently, some people spell this limeade. I say nuts to that, but for the sake of findability, I've added it.

Makes 4 liters

Prep time: 45 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Total time: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups fresh squeezed lime juice (about 10 limes)
  • 3.75 liters water
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 5 thin slices of lime

Instructions

  1. This is basically simple syrup and lime juice plus some water. its not rocket science people, but its damn tasty.
  2. To make the simple syrup:
  3. boil the 2 cups of water, then add in the 2 cups of sugar. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves, then remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Once cooled, stir in vanilla.
  5. In a 4 liter pitcher, combine the water and lime juice. Add in half the simple syrup and try it. If you're a wimp, you can add more sugar to taste, but really, quit being such a Nancy.
  6. Add the lime slices and refrigerate.
  7. There is a more advanced version of this recipe that involves tequila and strippers.
