Chocolate Chip Cake

Vanilla-based cake with cinnamon sugar and chocolate chips.
Ingredients
- 1/4 lb. butter
- 1 C. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 pint sour cream
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 C. flour (pre-sifted)
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 C. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 16 oz. chocolate chips
Instructions
- Heat oven to 350F.
- Cream butter, sugar, and eggs in a mixing bowl. Add sour cream and vanilla, and blend well. Add sifted dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and baking soda).
- Sift together 1/2 C. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon.
- Pour 1/2 of batter into a tube pan and sprinkle with 1/2 of the cinnamon sugar and a few of the chocolate chips. Don't let too many chips get close together or the cake will not bake evenly. Spread them out with your fingers if necessary.
- Add remaining batter and repeat with the cinnamon sugar and chocolate chips.
- Bake at 350F for 1/2 hour. Test for doneness with a piece of wire or a toothpick. If still gooey, bake for another 5-10 minutes.
